New Harbinger Plug-In Hybrid Vehicle for Medium-Duty Fleets

Harbinger introduced a brand new plug-in hybrid medium-duty industrial automobile, which mixes an electrical drivetrain with a gasoline-powered vary extender. Harbinger says that mixture gives a variety of as much as 500 miles between costs.

The Harbinger plug-in hybrid contains a 1.4-liter inline four-cylinder gasoline engine. That’s paired with an 800V generator and a 50-gallon gasoline tank. Relying on buyer choice, the automobile’s battery system gives capacities of both 140 or 175 kWh. The platform produces as much as 1,140 lb.-ft. of torque and 440 HP. Harbinger says its 800V structure permits speedy DC Quick Charging—as much as 80% in only one hour.

John Harris, co-founder and CEO of Harbinger, emphasised the significance of versatility for fleet functions:

“There are some fleets whose wants merely can’t be met with a purely electrical automobile—and we acknowledge that. Our hybrid is designed for use-cases and routes that transcend what an all-electric system sometimes helps.”

The Harbinger plug-in hybrid platform is offered as a stripped chassis. The OEM says it may be fitted to varied medium-duty functions like supply vans, field vehicles, leisure automobiles and emergency response automobiles.

Harbinger designs, engineers and assembles these chassis fully in-house at its Backyard Grove, California facility. The corporate provides that this vertically built-in strategy helps preserve decrease prices and reduces tariff-related uncertainties.
